Still on the #BuildingGhanaTogether tour, entering the Upper East Region this morning.

But I made time yesterday to celebrate our gallant and resilient Ghanaian work force by joining my younger colleagues at the Ghana Bar for a special Worker’s Day Interactive Session.

Together with Nana Afia Kobi Serwah Prempeh and Elsie Appau- Klu we discussed “Pursuing a legal career in Ghana as a woman: the good, the bad, the possibilities.”

As the saying goes, “everyone loves to say how much they hate lawyers, but I am yet to meet a parent who didn’t want their kids to be lawyers!”

Well for some even the mere study of the law is the essence of life itself. It was an absolutely illuminating experience with a wonderful cohort of vibrant and talented young lawyers who are members of EVE Legal, a brainchild of Lady Julia.

A Coaching and mentoring program set up to create opportunities for newly enrolled lawyers to interact with and develop coping mechanisms and strategies, if any, they can adopt and adapt to as they plan their careers in and around the Law.

Presentations, focused on current trends in the Law and Social Media as a modern business tool, networking sessions and how to improve upon Lawyers/ client relationships.

It is apparent that young professionals have enormous potential and if properly trained can empower themselves to become competitive in their fields of business and work.

The study of the Law, we all agreed, remains one if not the most versatile of professions and therefore operates as a catalyst for innovation and development depending on one’s ability and willingness to engage and learn.

As panelists coming from varied backgrounds and experiences in the field of Law, business and politics we had many different perspectives and experiences which were the crux of the conversation.

On behalf of all who made the time to join us in the beautiful Orchidea Lounge for High tea, High conversations with High performers, we are grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing community of future professionals.
